A running record of notable changes to Exaplay 3.
Exaplay 3.5
Current Release — released October 24th, 2026 — Download Exaplay 3.5.0
There is no Exaplay 3.4 — it was an internal version and never released. Everything below is new since 3.3.
- [Feature] The Stage, rebuilt — screens, their outputs and the PCs that drive them in one view. Drag an output onto a screen to assign it, and a file, live feed or generator from the browser below to play it there at once. A screen plays content on its whole area; fields appear only once you add one. See The Stage.
- [Feature] Stages — tabs on the Stage that group screens and their PCs, such as a main hall and a foyer. A stage switched off is dark on every PC, and deleting a stage or a screen can be undone with Ctrl+Z. See The Stage.
- [Feature] VIOSO calibration, rebuilt — load a
.vwfwith Load… or drop it on a screen or output, on one PC or one file per PC across a multi-client rig. Channels are assigned automatically where the outputs allow it, otherwise in a new assign tool with a test pattern on the wall; split outputs and the black level are part of it. See Projection Mapping. - [Feature] Walkthroughs — 37 narrated tours under ☰ → Walkthroughs, sorted by topic and searchable; a search hit starts at the matching step. See Main View.
- [Feature] VIOSO AI — Check Project opens with an AI review of the show, generators and custom pages can be refined with Edit with VIOSO AI, and an AI tool on the engine machine (Claude Code, Codex) can hand Exaplay a draft. See Check Project and Generators.
- [Feature] Integrations — a Bitfocus Companion module for Stream Deck with keys lit from Exaplay's live state, Crestron SIMPL+ modules, and templates for Extron, Medialon, Alcorn McBride, Node-RED, TouchDesigner and Home Assistant. Control → Integrations lists every supported system with set-up steps and downloads. See Connecting External Systems.
- [Feature] Show control — the cue lines
HTTP>(REST devices, webhooks) andMQTT>, MQTT as an Inputs device, TCP/UDP commands for Blank, Mute, Identify, Play all and Stop all, and a/statusWebSocket that pushes live state to external systems. In multi-client,HTTP>andMQTT>go out from the master only. See Cue Script Reference and Status Push. - [Feature] Timeline editing — drag a clip's left edge to trim its start,
Alt+ drag it outwards to extend it, split at the playhead withCtrl+K, andAlt+ drag a clip's picture to slip the media inside it. Every clip has In and Out points in the Inspector. See Timeline and Media Playback. - [Feature] LED Mapping (experimental, behind Settings → Debug mode) — cut a screen into cabinet arrays and place them where the LED processor expects them, across several PCs. See LED Mapping.
- [Feature] Command buttons — a Custom Control that runs several commands with waits between them, also as a tile on a User Panel. Custom Controls can be added by their path. See Custom Controls.
- [Feature] Unsaved changes — the header shows when the show differs from its file; New Project, Load Project and closing the tab ask before discarding. See Main View.
- [Feature] Editing — copy, paste and duplicate in playlists (one clipboard with the Timeline), rename in place with
F2, timeline groups withCtrl+G, and every shortcut listed under?. See Playlist and Timeline Groups. - [Feature] Play from start — a playing composition or playlist item starts over without a stop, and a looped clip keeps looping: from the transport, the Playback Overview, a playlist row's menu, or
restartover TCP, UDP, OSC and REST. See Playlist. - [Feature] Start screen per machine — Settings → Startup → Start Exaplay with opens the Stage, a composition, a Control area or a single User Panel for a kiosk. See Permanent Installations.
- [Feature] User Panels — an Inactivity return presses a chosen button after a set time without a touch, and exclusive groups span every page. See User Panel Builder.
- [Improved] Video decoding picks its route by itself: Exaplay's built-in decoder on the output GPU, else the strongest GPU, else the CPU. A decoder badge (NVDEC, QSV, AMD, GPU, CPU) shows on every clip; Settings → Decode & GPU picks the decode GPU and can switch back to the Medialooks decoder as in 3.3. See Video Decoding.
- [Improved] NDI — every placement of one source shares a single receiver, so four picture-in-pictures of one camera cost one stream instead of four. See NDI Support.
- [Improved] Outputs — read 1:1 from Windows by default, or Rearranged by drag & drop on the Stage; the overlap of two projectors is a number with an Edge blend switch; the output inspector was regrouped. See Output Setup.
- [Improved] Screen content — Content on this screen sets Fit, Fill, Stretch, Keep resolution, Align, Mirror and 90° turns; an additional field turns by 90° with two arrows; every screen has its own colour on the Stage and in Outlines. See The Stage.
- [Improved] A composition that plays on a deleted field is marked with an orange ! and offers Pick a field. See Composition Area.
- [Improved] Webcapture renders a page at the size of its field, pixel for pixel.
- [Improved] One look — every view follows Produce & Play in one dark colour scheme, every file dialog is the same dialog and reopens in its last folder, and explanations sit behind a ? next to their control. See Configuration.
- [Improved] Header — BLANK with a choice of fade and MUTE beside it; the ☰ menu lists only what has no other home; a new start-up animation that can be switched off. See Main View.
- [Improved] License dialog — a card with the key, its status and the end of updates & support, and two short wizards to activate and to deactivate, online or offline by QR code. See Installation.
- [Improved] Control view — Monitor and Inputs are tabs, Inputs is one tree of devices, channels and rules (DMX input included), the Panel Designer opens inside it, and System shows this machine with Restart and Shut down. See Control View.
- [Improved] Audio — ☰ → Audio Mixer carries the machine's master volume and meters in dB; the Settings value is now Output trim, the Transport fader Composition volume. See Audio.
- [Improved] The Scheduler and projector status polling run in the engine — with no browser open and after a restart; an unreachable projector costs 1.5 s instead of about 21 s, and a text command reaches only projectors configured in the project. See Scheduler and Projector Control.
- [Improved] Projection Setup (manual warp, blend and black level per output) is no longer behind Debug mode. See Projection Mapping.
- [Improved] Multi-client — hardened on a three-PC, seven-projector calibrated rig; the Network tab marks a Service offline only after two missed polls. See Multi-Client Setup.
- [Improved] Vio can stay active in show mode, warns about a low frame rate and a saturated decoder, and has its own Settings tab.
- [Improved] Auto-Heal and Watchdog restart switch independently; Notify Output Changes reports a change in the number of displays. See Auto-Heal & Watchdog.
- [Improved] The Layout Designer shows only the selected screen's clips and has its X / Y / W / H / R° fields back. See Layout Designer.
- [Improved] A new Play cue no longer switches Show Mode on; cues in saved shows keep their setting.
- [Fix] Looping — generators loop seamlessly, a looping timeline runs to its last cue, a looped clip no longer throws the locator back to 0, and a split looping clip keeps its loops. Previous cue in a timeline goes to the cue before the active one.
- [Fix] Fill fills a screen or field turned by 90°, a clip with its own position keeps its scaling, and Align places a Keep resolution picture where it says.
- [Fix] The Stage and VIOSO Spaces previews stop when their tab is hidden instead of costing playback performance in the background.
- [Fix] Remote commands — a quoted cue name may contain commas over TCP and UDP, a Playlist seek sets the time within the current item, and a custom interface's Next / Previous on a Timeline fires the next or previous cue. See TCP Command API.
- [Fix]
-playcompand-playcuestart playback even with Autoplay at Startup off;-playvideoopens the output windows. See Installation. - [Fix] The interface PIN also locks the Control, Show and Monitor views opened on their own address. See PIN Lock.
- [Fix] Spout Input connects to any sender again; a
"or\in an ASIO channel or Spout sender name no longer breaks the Inspector. - [Fix] The mouse pointer stays visible over the tray menu, Project Export includes files such as
Intro..v2.mov, disconnecting from VIOSO Cloud discards queued alerts, and a disabled button looks disabled everywhere.
Exaplay 3.3
Released: July 30th, 2026 — Download Exaplay 3.3.0
- [Feature] Improved GPU video decoding — hardware-decoded video now runs as GPU load instead of CPU load, covering 8-bit and 10-bit HEVC, with HDR tone-mapped to SDR automatically. A single Video decoding setting (Automatic / Hardware / Software) controls it, in a new Decode & GPU settings tab. See Media Playback.
- [Feature] 3D Warper and 2D Projection Setup (experimental) — two manual projection-setup editors alongside the grid warp, behind Settings → Debug mode. See Projection Mapping.
- [Feature] User Panel Designer — free placement of items instead of a fixed grid, with undo/redo while designing. See User Panel Builder.
- [Feature] Control view redesign — status badges, a scrubbable progress bar with a hover time preview, and live highlighting of the playing cue or item. See Operator Control View.
- [Feature] Mixer channel gains now survive a project reload. See Audio.
- [Feature] Any object in the project can be addressed by dotted path over TCP and UDP, and cues can be triggered by name. See TCP Command API and UDP Command API.
- [Feature]
POST /composition/play— play a composition by name or UID over REST. See REST API. - [Feature] Inspector redesign — card-style sections, an interactive Crop Editor, segmented timecode inputs, drag-scrub numeric fields and an inline Save Preset. See Inspector.
- [Improved] PJ-Link — a manual Refresh Status button polls all projectors on demand. See Projector Control.
- [Improved] Scheduler — dayparting runs in the engine, so scheduled playback survives a restart and works with every browser window closed. See Scheduler.
- [Improved] Edits made in one browser tab now sync to every other open tab.
- [Improved] Contextual help in each Settings tab, one-click copy of the version info, and lower web-UI CPU usage.
- [Improved] Light theme completed across the Inspector, Timeline, Transport and File Browser (superseded in 3.5: Exaplay has one dark colour scheme).
- [Fix] GPU decode — corrected multi-GPU adapter selection, several black-output cases, watchdog and seek-recovery edge cases, green flashes after a timeline jump, and a startup crash during GPU enumeration.
- [Fix] Audio — raw PCM now reads the correct bit depth, drop-outs on high-sample-rate and multichannel WAV files are gone, and clips follow a driver sample-rate change without a restart.
- [Fix] Stability — fixed intermittent crashes on startup and on composition delete, a "Cannot access work folder" crash when opening some projects, and the offline license wizard not appearing.
