Main Editor View
The Main Editor is the primary working environment used to build and test a show. It is accessible at the root URL (http://localhost:8123/).

Header Bar

| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Logo / Brand | Customisable via public/brand/ assets |
| Project name / Save | The loaded show and when it was last saved — or Unsaved changes, with a dot on the disk icon, while the show file is behind your edits; click the name to rename it, the disk icon to save |
| Undo / Redo | Step back / forward through your edits |
| Multiclient alarm | Master of a multi-client rig only, and only while a client has stopped answering: a red pill naming the machine (RENDER-A offline). Click it to open the Network tab |
| MUTE | BLANK | One pair of switches for what reaches the room, each on its own: MUTE silences the sound on every machine (the picture stays up), BLANK fades every output to black and back. A switch that is on turns red and says so — MUTED, BLANKED. The ▾ beside BLANK picks the fade (Cut, 2, 5, 10 s, Custom); the current fade is in its tooltip |
| SHOW OFF / SHOW ON | Whether any output window shows a frame — the largest switch in the row; lit green while the show is on |
| ☰ menu | Project commands (New, Load, Save, Export, Check Project), Audio Mixer, Auto-Heal & Watchdog, and at the foot of that column VIOSO Cloud (a dot and a word for the pairing — click it to connect; once connected it opens Open Cloud Profile, Connection details, Sentinel alerts and Log out; a red ! on the ☰ button means a pairing that worked no longer does); in the right-hand column Walkthroughs, Tutorials, Documentation (this manual), Keyboard shortcuts, Fullscreen, Splash screen (switches the animated start screen on or off for this browser), Restart / Close Exaplay, Settings, Send log (this machine's engine log, output list and version as a ZIP — saved, or sent to support@vioso.com by email; with no share sheet, the ZIP is saved and a mail opens that names the file to attach), System Information, License and About. Monitor and Inputs are tabs of the Control view; they appear here only on a machine without a Control tab (Control Buddy) |
| Diagnostics | Toggle the Performance Diagnostics overlay |
| Preview (monitor icon) | Opens the Output Preview |
| Raw wall ON | Shown only while the outputs run without their calibration (on a multi-client rig: every machine's); click to put the calibration back |
| Connection status | A lost connection to the engine covers the window with Offline until the engine answers again. If the engine is still connected but its performance data stops, Vio, the assistant orb in the header, says so |
Walkthroughs
☰ menu → Walkthroughs opens the overview of every recorded walkthrough: short recordings of the real interface that work offline. Pick a topic, or type in the search field: it finds a walkthrough by any step it shows, says which step that is, and Step n starts the walkthrough right there. Enter plays the best match.
Walkthrough
☰ menu → Walkthroughs → Running the show → Blank the wall — cut or fade chooses the fade and brings the picture back; Saving the show — and knowing when it isn't reads the header's unsaved mark and saves with Ctrl+S.
Composition Area
The centre shows the active composition's Timeline or Playlist, with the composition tabs and the Transport bar (play, pause, stop and the time) above it and the File Browser below it. Click a clip or cue to show it in the Inspector.
For a live picture of a screen, open the Output Preview.
A composition tab with an orange ! plays on a field that no longer exists — its screen was deleted on the Stage. Its content is still played and decoded, but shown nowhere. Point at the ! to see which field; open the composition and the note above it says the same, with Pick a field, which opens the composition (or the track or clip that names the field) in the Inspector to choose another one. Adding the screen back on the Stage also clears it.
Keyboard Shortcuts
The same list opens in the editor itself: press ? (Shift+/), or choose ☰ menu → Keyboard shortcuts. On a Mac, Cmd stands in for Ctrl.
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
Space | Play / Pause the active composition |
Ctrl+S | Save the show |
Ctrl+Z | Undo |
Ctrl+Y / Ctrl+Shift+Z | Redo |
Ctrl+click | Add a clip or cue to the selection; on a Timeline track's header, add the track (for Group N Tracks / Ctrl+G) |
Shift+click | Playlist: select a range of items; on a Timeline track's header, select every track from the last one clicked |
Delete | Remove the selected clips or cues (opens a confirmation dialog); with a gap selected on the Timeline, close the gap instead |
Shift+Delete | Remove one selected clip and close the gap it leaves, so its neighbours end up flush — deliberately skips the confirmation |
Enter | Confirm the pending delete |
Esc | Playlist: close the context menu, then clear the selection |
F2 | Rename the selected clip, cue, track or playlist row in place (a double-click on its name does the same); Enter saves, Esc cancels |
Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V | Copy / paste clips — on the Timeline at the playhead, in a Playlist after the selected row; the clipboard is shared between the two |
Ctrl+D | Playlist: duplicate the selected rows right below |
F1–F12 | Fire a cue — the key is set per cue in the Inspector, optionally with Alt / Shift (see below) |
F11 | Toggle fullscreen (the browser's own; ☰ → Fullscreen does the same from the menu) |
? | Open this list in the editor |

|---|---|

Wheel | Zoom at the pointer |
Alt+drag | Move the view (dragging with the right or middle mouse button does the same) |
Ctrl+drag | On empty canvas: add to the selection with a marquee (Shift+drag does the same) |
Double-click | On a screen: work on that screen large, with its fields |
Tab / Shift+Tab | With a field selected and its warping on: select the next / previous warp point |
← ↑ → ↓ | With a warp point selected: move it by 0.01 (Shift: 0.1); Enter or Esc deselects it |

+ / - | Zoom in / out |
Ctrl+wheel | Zoom at the pointer |
Shift+wheel | Scroll sideways |

M | Toggle compact / normal track view |
Double-click | On the ruler: add a cue there |
Keyframe lanes
With a keyframe selected in an opacity, volume, data-track or tween lane:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
← / → | Move the keyframe by one frame (Shift: a tenth of a frame) |
↑ / ↓ | Change its value by 1 % of the range (Shift: 0.1 %) |
Delete | Remove the keyframe |
Esc | Deselect it |
Space | With a lane focused: open the large curve editor |
Ctrl++ / Ctrl+- | Large editor: zoom (Ctrl+0 resets the view, ← / → pan, Home returns to the start) |
Cue hotkeys
Timeline cues can be assigned their own trigger key (F1–F12, optionally with Shift/Alt) — configured per cue in the Inspector, not fixed. See Cues on the Timeline.
Theming & Branding
Exaplay 3 supports white-label theming. Place custom assets in public/brand/:
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
logo.png | Replaces the header logo and the logo on the start-up splash screen |
theme-override.css | CSS overrides for colours, fonts, etc. (loaded after the app's own styles) |
banner.png | Header background image |
