Changelog

A running record of notable changes to Exaplay 3.

Exaplay 3.2

Upcoming release — Exaplay 3.2.0

Exaplay Cloud features ship with 3.2 for field testing but are deliberately not listed here — they run under the hood and are communicated separately.

New Features

  • Audio EQ: Per-layer 3-band parametric EQ with an interactive visual curve editor — drag the Low / Mid / High nodes directly on the response curve, or set gain / frequency / Q numerically. Opens from a dedicated popup editor next to the layer's audio controls in the Inspector. See Audio → Equalizer.
  • PJ-Link Multi-Device Control: Add several PJ-Link projectors at once, including a bulk range-add for sequential IP addresses, with live power-status polling shown in the GUI. See Projector Control (PJ-Link).
  • Check Project: A pre-show validation report that scans the project for missing media, mixed audio sample rates, non-HAP video, HAP block-alignment issues, NDI sources, and empty compositions/tracks before you go live. See Check Project.
  • Multi-Client Smart Sync: Copies each client only the media its assigned screens actually render, instead of a full project sync. See Multi-Client → Smart Sync.
  • Sentinel Service (gated): Pairing workflow with bearer-token transport authentication. See Sentinel — Remote Alerting.
  • Audio Free-Sync: Optional independent soundcard-clock mode — audio runs free on the soundcard clock instead of being re-synced to the transport playhead, removing the periodic cue-snap click (best for shorter clips). See Audio Settings.

Improvements

  • HAP R (BC7/BPTC) playback support added to the HAP codec family.
  • Watchfolder: automatic polling and more robust handling of partially written files. See Watchfolders.
  • Composition duplicate now copies the full content of the source composition, including every track.
  • Timeline: a Data Track option and an Insert track above action were added.
  • User Panel Designer: the editor is now the single entry point for adding new items, and playlist (media) buttons are configurable like every other button.
  • NDI: a per-source on/off switch, plus auto-connect of saved sources on project start.
  • Blacklevel Editor: resize handles and a global black-lift control.

Bug Fixes

Audio — continued sample-rate and click fixes (builds on 3.1.3.1, which introduced WASAPI preference for correct device sample-rate detection):

  • Gapless MP3 chains are now corrected at clip start (previously prone to drift via PTS-rebase); encoder-delay priming is trimmed correctly at clip boundaries.
  • Further click/pop fixes on start, stop, pause, seek, and volume changes.
  • Smoother drift correction (rate-trim instead of a hard snap).
  • Device sample-rate detection refined further, addressing remaining periodic clicking on some systems.
  • Standalone WAV playback path corrected.

Rendering

  • Top pixel row (y=0) missing in normal playback — resolved (root cause was a 1px discrepancy between window and output height; previously a known issue in 3.1.3).

PatternGenerator mode

  • Scissor-Y calculation cleaned up; implicit workaround offsets removed.
  • Default UDP port changed from 11000 → 12000 to avoid a conflict with the standalone PatternGenerator application running on the same machine.

ASIO

  • More robust driver loader — a single faulty ASIO driver no longer hides all other available audio devices.

License

  • Binding validation corrected; activation error resolved.
  • Automatic re-activation against the license server on local validation failure.
  • The no-license overlay no longer flickers on startup.

Timeline

  • Duplicate composition now correctly copies all tracks.
  • Clip drops between rows now work reliably.
  • Resolved a data-loss issue and a delete-related crash.

ArtNet

  • Multiverse output corrected.
  • Data-track / cue DMX output now merges correctly per universe.

Multi-Client

  • Resolved several version-mismatch issues.
  • Client-mode role switching and remote role detection corrected.
  • Client outputs are now displayed accurately in the Systems view.

NDI

  • Watermark issue resolved (license initialization).
  • Live sources now start reliably on project start.
  • Resolved CPU saturation caused by an unnecessary lazy-start bypass.

Stability

  • Resolved several use-after-free and data-race issues (timeline delete/move, audio buffer teardown, live-source re-arm).
  • Fixed a thread-safety issue in internal task handling.
  • Resolved a shutdown hang on large shows.
  • Display ownership is now preserved across hardware re-enumeration.

Other

  • WebSocket file transfer corrected.
  • The Inspector now opens on a media-pool item click.
  • Webcapture labeling and the live-params dialog reworked.

Exaplay 3.1

Released: June 4, 2026 — Download Exaplay 3.1.3

  • Experience Designer integration: New panel in the Outputs view exposes every screen as an MJPEG stream that VIOSO Experience Designer can consume as a live texture. See Experience Designer (VIOSO).
  • Layout Designer: New inline canvas overlay for visually positioning, resizing, and rotating composition items on top of the Output Preview. See Layout Designer.
  • Data Tracks: Keyframe curves on the timeline that emit values over OSC, UDP, TCP, Art-Net, or DMX — or drive Operator Control readouts.
  • Timecode in/out: LTC, Art-Net, and OSC; compatible with ETC Eos, QLab, Medialon, Crestron, and more.
  • Timecode Master mode: A chosen composition can drive an outgoing OSC and/or LTC timecode stream to other equipment. The LTC encoder tracks the engine's audio sample rate so the carrier stays in tune. See Timecode & ArtNet Sync.
  • NDI receive/send & Spout input: Zero-latency GPU texture sharing.
  • Warp HTTP API: Full API for external calibration tools, on top of the VIOSO warp and edge-blend integration.
  • Dome projection workflows: Single fisheye and multi-projector ring setups.
  • Operator Control View: Browser-based show-control surface — no installer for operators.
  • User Panel Builder: Touch-friendly buttons, sliders, and exclusive-group scene switching for kiosks and front-of-house.
  • Monitor tab: Live network and protocol events.
  • Timeline: Improved clip and keyframe interaction.
  • Timeline: Double-click a media source to add it directly to the timeline.

  • Real-time GPU effects: Color key, luminance, chromatic aberration, dome looks.
  • Multichannel Audio: ASIO and Dante output.
