Configuration Overview
System configuration is accessed from the Config button in the header bar. The current Settings window is organised into dedicated tabs so you can jump directly to the area you want to change.
Settings Tabs
| Tab | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Video | Project video settings such as frame rate and playback-related video options |
| Audio | Audio driver choice, routing, levels, and timecode input audio sources |
| Startup | What Exaplay should open or restore when the application starts |
| Communication | OSC, TCP, UDP, network control, and the multi-client toggle |
| Timecode | External timecode inputs and timing behaviour |
| System | System-wide behaviour such as autosave and machine-specific options |
| Autoheal | Crash recovery, watchdog restart behaviour, restore timing, and verbose recovery logging |
| Interface | Easy Mode, Control Buddy, display name, colour theme, welcome screen, and timeline convenience options |
Changes take effect immediately unless stated otherwise. Project-related settings are stored with the project file (.vpp), while some interface preferences are remembered locally on the machine you are using.

- Auto Crossfade on Multi-File Drop — automatically overlap files dropped onto the same track
- Easy Mode / Control Buddy / Display Name — simplify the UI or identify a machine more clearly in networked setups
- Multi-Client Mode — enable remote system discovery, playback sync, and file copy tools
Quick Access Controls
The most common live controls remain available without opening Settings:
